Not many construction careers include a stint at the Sydney Opera House. Kristian Golub's does.
Ten years in, Kristian is a Senior Project Engineer with a track record spanning education, industrial, and data centre projects, as well as one of the most technically demanding heritage renewal projects in the country.
Kristian joined Taylor as a cadet and worked through the roles of Site Engineer and Project Engineer before his recent promotion to Senior Project Engineer. That progression covers a genuinely varied career.
The early years included public schools across Western Sydney and commercial industrial work, projects that built his technical base quickly and across different site conditions. Then, from 2020 to 2022, the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall Renewal. A project of that scale and cultural significance demands precision at every level. Kristian delivered it as a Site Engineer, and the experience set the standard for what followed.
From the Sydney Opera House, Kristian moved into Data Centres, a sector that rewards exactly the kind of calm, fast-moving problem-solving he has become known for.
Kristian has been nominated for Taylor's Excel Award in consecutive years. The nominations say the same thing each time; that Kristian is someone who is "constantly striving for excellence" and "always putting his hand up to take on extra work for the betterment of the team."
What the team says
Amanda Bruhn joined Taylor as a cadet and worked alongside Kristian for several years. She describes her time working with Kristian: "He has shared his knowledge, offered guidance, and made time to help me and others, which has had a positive impact not only on my development as a worker, but also as a person."
That kind of feedback does not come from technical competence alone.
The people above Kristian in the structure describe the same quality from a different angle. Hazem Gergis, Construction Director, points to his "calm and collected demeanour and collaborative approach" and the strength of the relationships he builds across subcontractors, consultants, clients, and his own team. Adam Vassallo, Construction Director, describes him as "a rising project leader" with an ability to keep complex projects moving in line with client expectations. Project Manager Chris Cofre is more direct: "Hard working, easy going, and willing to help out wherever he can."
Beyond the build
Kristian has shown up for Taylor consistently beyond project delivery. He has represented the business across engagement activities and most recently took part in the Tour de PIF, raising funds for homeless youth.
