Shane Johnston joined Taylor in 2016 on Peak Apartments. Ten years on, he is Senior Site Supervisor, and the projects in between tell the story of that decade: apartments, corporate refurbishments, public schools, an aquatic centre, a hospital, and a data centre.
As Senior Site Supervisor, Shane oversees construction of the scope of works and coordinates activity on site day to day, working alongside project managers, subcontractors, and site personnel to keep resources, schedules, and quality control on track. Enforcing safety protocols and keeping the project team talking to each other matters just as much as anything written into the program.
That mix of oversight and communication has served him well on live-environment sites. Delivering education works for a run of NSW Government schools, including Kyeemagh Public School, and completing the John Cunningham Student Centre taught Shane that consistent, thorough communication is the difference between a live site that runs and one that does not. It is a lesson he has carried into every project since, and one that has helped him build long-term relationships with subcontractors and stakeholders across his career at Taylor.
The breadth of that career is its own answer to what ten years at Taylor looks like. Shane has worked refurbishments at Powerhouse Castle Hill and at 138 and 160 Pitt Street, delivered Campbelltown Hospital Stage 2 RW3, and completed Echidna Data Centre. On SOPA Aquatic Centre Pool Refurbishment, he managed the restoration of an existing facility inside Sydney Olympic Park under some of the tightest site constraints on Taylor's books, experience he is now bringing to the Roseville College Sport and Wellbeing Centre. He is currently on site at Trinity College for the Renewal Project Stage 3A.
