Unlocking Sydney's University Precinct Potential
Taylor was proud to be the event sponsor for the Property Council of Australia's NSW event, Student Cities: Unlocking Sydney's University Precinct Potential, held on 5 August at Gilbert + Tobin's Barangaroo offices.
The event brought together leaders from across the student accommodation sector to examine one of Sydney's most pressing property challenges: a widening gap between student numbers and available accommodation. From Camperdown and Tech Central to Kensington, Macquarie Park and Parramatta, university precincts across the city are expanding rapidly, yet purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) supply continues to lag behind demand.
Our COO, Elliot Hicks, delivered the event's welcome address, thanking the Property Council for bringing the group together and Gilbert + Tobin for hosting. Elliot described student accommodation as one of the more interesting growth stories in NSW at present, and one of the few sectors where education, housing and city-shaping all pull in the same direction, noting that solving Sydney's student accommodation challenge will take collaboration across government, universities, investors, operators and delivery partners.
"At Taylor, our philosophy is Made to Matter, and we are proud to support an industry helping shape the future of Sydney's university precincts."
Our sponsorship of this event reflects Taylor's ongoing relationship with the Property Council of Australia and our continued commitment to the student accommodation sector across NSW. We look forward to more conversations like this as Sydney's university precincts continue to grow.
